Zhoushan & Zhoushan Port

Zhoushan is honoured as “city of thousand island”,there are 1390 islands in the whole city, and the coast line is 2444 kilometers. Zhoushan is adjacent to Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo and other metropolis area and Yangtze River Delta., face to the Pacific ocean, located in the connection of coastline and Yangtze River, is the marine gateway of Yangtze river basin and Yangtze river delta, form as the line radiation pattern to the Asia-Pacific booming cities. It face the Pacific ocean on the east, has been a joint of far east international marine, and also the only naval strategist base in Pacific. Zhoushan has 50 places suitable for developing the port berth, the coast line is 246.7 kilometers, among them , 198.3 kilometers are more than 15m deep, and can be built 100000-250000 tons level berths, and 107.9 kilometers are deep than 20m.

Port of Zhoushan is located in the Zhanshan city, Zhejiang Province, adjacent to the most developed region of Yangtze River Delta, it’s the marine gateway of Jiangzhe and Yangtze river basin. The port has the deep coast line resource and natural advantage for port construction. 1538 kilometers coastline can be used to build pier, 183.2 kilometers are more than 10m deep.82.8 kilometers coastline more than 20m deep. It consist of Dinghai, Shenjiamen, Laotangshan, Gaoting, hengshan, Sijiao, Luhuashan, Yangshan. The total productivity berths are 352, 11 of them are thousands tons level, the throughput of the goods reached 57,000,000 tons in 2003. Have the transportation relationship with Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, American, Russia and Middle East. Port of Zhoushan is the consist of the Shanghai international shipping center and mixed port of Shanghai-Ningbo-Zhoushan. The developing of ports are the most potential and competitive industry of Zhoushan in the future. In 2004, the total volume of the throughput is 73,592,600 tons. More than 80,000,000 tons in 2005.
