Ningpo & Ningpo Port
Ningpo is a seaport city in the northest of Zhejiang Province. It lies south of the Hangzhou Bay,facing the east chinese sea to the east. Ningpo borders Shaoxing to the west and Taizhou to the south, and is separated from Zhoushan by a narrow body of water. It is a economic central city and heavy chemical industry base in the south wing of the Yangtze River Delta. Ningpo is a important industry city in Eastern China and also the economic center of Zhejiang Province. The total area of Ningpo is 9816 square kilometres,and with a population of 760,570,0(year 2010).In 2011, the whole city’s GDP has reached to 601,050,000,000 RMB.

China International Consumer Goods Fair held in Ningpo on June 8th annual. Is China’s largest professional consumer goods fair,among the fairs which are hosted by the Commerce Department, it is the second largest foreign exhibition after Canton Fair. It has held for 11 times since 1999, there are more than 3191 foreign investment projects have been signed, and use the foreign investment about 314,500,000,00 dollars. There are more than ten thousand of foreign merchants come to the exhibition in recent years.
Port of Ningpo’s cargo throughput is the largest in China. In 2010, Ningpo port saw a throughput of 410 million tons, making it second in China mainland, and forth in the world. The containers throughput reached 13,004,000, making it the third in China mainland, sixth in the world. The port comprises several ports which are Beilun seaport, Zhenhai estuary port and old Ningpo harbor, Daxie and Chuanshan. Port of Ningpo is a modern multi-purpose deep water port, consisting of inland, estuary and coastal harbors. There are a total of 191 berths including 39 deep water berths with 10,000 and more tonnage. The larger ones include the 250,000 tonnage crude oil terminal, more than 200,000 tonnage ore loading berth. There is also a purpose-built terminal for the 6TH generation container vessel and the 50,000 tonnage berth dedicated for liquid chemical products. Currently, Ningpo has shipping links with more than 600 ports in over 100 countries and regions of the world. Ningpo port mainly deal with the export and import of iron ore, containers of local and foreign trade. Crude oil and refined oil product, liquid chemical product,coal and other bulkload’s loading and unloading, store, transfer. The cargo throughput volume exceeding 268,460,000 tons in 2005.
